PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY – PARTICIPANTS WANTED!

AnkeDR ANKE BRÜNING-RICHARDSON, our Post Doc Researcher based in the Leeds Lab isvery involved in Public Engagements in order to raise the awareness of brain tumours.

Following the huge success of ‘BRIAN THE BRAIN’ pictured here, she is currently very busy planning her next project but we all need to help her with this.

Anke is asking for

‘PEOPLE PARTICIPATION’

This is to include patients, relatives, clinicians, researchers, people interested in science, young and old, to send her a textile based piece of material (20 cm x 20 cm), which depicts the maker’s associations with feelings of or reflections on brain tumours. This can be knitted, stitched, glued, in fact anything that can then be incorporated into a quilt that can then be hung and used for display. To that end, the contribution needs to be sturdy and strong. You may want to highlight the importance of brain tumour awareness or the hope that comes with our improving research into brain tumours. All participants will receive an official thank you and a photograph of the completed quilt. The quilt will be a center piece for demonstrations at public scientific fairs, scientific meetings and other public engagement associated activities. Hopefully the completed quilt will attract a lot of media attention and thus help to raise awareness of this devastating disease.

Deadline for submission is 01.10.2017.

If you are interested in participating, please email Anke on bgyar@leeds.ac.uk.
